The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) affects how charities work with data and look after this valuable information. This course is specifically for charitable organisations and will take you through the essentials of lawful data processing. This course will help you identify any weaknesses and improve your compliance with the law.

June course
Session 1: Thursday 16 June (10.00 until 13.00)
Session 2: Thursday 23 June (10.00 until 13.00)

July course - will run all day on 19 July from 10.00 to 15.00

September course - will run all day on 12 September from 10.00 to 15.00

October course
Session 1:  Monday 10 October (10.00 until 13.00)
Session 2:  Monday 17 October (10.00 until 13.00) 


By the end of the course, you will have:
  • a full understanding of the principles and core areas of data processing and data subject rights under UK GDPR
  • used practical tools to ensure your organisation complies with data protection legislation
  • discussed the role and responsibility of your data controller and the information asset owners and SIRO where applicable
  • looked at subject access rights and requests and how to deal with them
  • understood how data protection may impact your organisation.


Whatever type of organisation you may be, if you process personal data you will need to be UK GDPR compliant. This would include anyone within an organisation that handles or processes the personal data of staff, service users, beneficiaries, volunteers, customers, members and supporters. If you process special category data such as health, sexual orientation and religious beliefs or children's data this course will help to guide you through your extra responsibilities you have under the new legislation.

This course will also be suitable for individuals that procure services from third parties where personal data is shared.

Our pricing structure is based on your organisation’s gross annual income. NCVO members also receive a 30% discount off training prices. Organisations with a gross annual income of less than £30k can join NCVO for free and will then qualify for the discount.
