ONLINE TRAINING: Fundraising Responsibilities for Trustees (0.5 day course)

Trustees need to understand their charity’s approach to funding and fundraising to ensure their charity has the resources to thrive sustainably. Trustees need to provide effective governance of fundraising to ensure it is meeting the needs of the charity, ethical and in line with their legal obligations. This online course ensures trustees develop the right skills and knowledge to fulfil their duties by effectively understanding, questioning and supporting their charity’s approach to raising income.


By the end of the session you will: 
  • Clearly understand the role of the trustee in funding and fundraising 
  • Be able to identify and manage the risks and impacts of fundraising
  • Understand the funding environment
  • Consider the ethical implications of income generation 
  • Understand what steps to take to protect and support their organisations now and in the future 


Trustees who would like to take a more strategic approach to funding. Chief executives or directors who work closely with trustees on their income strategy. 

Please note: this course is not appropriate for non-trustees or staff looking for general support with fundraising and income generation or trustee responsibilities.

Leah Selinger is a consultant at NCVO. Leah’s fundraising experience includes holding director of fundraising roles at national charities, and supporting small and medium sized voluntary sector organisations to raise funds from a wide range of sources.  She is a charity trustee, CIC Director and school governor, and has experience of grant making. 
Leah has over 20 years’ experience as a senior manager and fundraiser in the voluntary sector where she has worked in, and with, organisations to be help them become more effective and sustainable through a combination of support services covering governance, strategy, income generation and implementation.


This training will take place on Zoom. We will send out the Zoom link with the joining instructions before the session. 

The training will run from 10.00–13.00 with short breaks.
