Family and volunteering workshop

Whether parents volunteer or have volunteered in the past can influence the likelihood of individuals volunteering, but our knowledge about the links between family and volunteering is relatively limited. Join us at this free workshop to hear about the research findings, and share information and perspectives.
16 March 2020 - 14:00

This workshop takes place from 14.00 to 16.00 and is free to attend for members and non members.

Over the last few months NCVO has been carrying out research to fill this gap in partnership with the University of Birmingham and the University of Salford. This research aims to improve understanding of how families engage with volunteering and how organisations engage with families through volunteering. Ultimately, it aims to support organisations that want to develop or enhance volunteering opportunities for family members.

At this workshop, you will:

  • get an overview of the research findings
  • share perspectives on how organisations engage with families
  • discuss what the findings mean for future opportunities
  • inform the practical guidance that we will be putting together as part of the project.

Who should attend

The workshop is open to organisations and groups that involve volunteers. It is particularly relevant to volunteer managers and coordinators, but not solely.
