Safeguarding refers to a range of measures that are put in place in any organisation to protect people in their organisation, or those they come into contact with, from abuse or maltreatment of any kind. It’s essential that safeguarding is integrated throughout all policies and procedures. These include: roles and responsibilities, recruitment, concerns and complaints management, ethical fundraising, quality assurance and risk assessments of all our activities. Safeguarding must also help to create an environment where beneficiaries, staff and volunteers feel confident and able to raise concerns or complaints. This interactive course has been specifically designed to help trustees evaluate their current safeguarding procedures.

Safeguarding means the range of measures we have in place to protect people in our organisation, or those we come into contact with, from abuse and maltreatment of any kind. This means we have to think about safeguarding in everything we do: including policy and procedure writing, roles and responsibilities, safer recruitment, concerns and complaints management, ethical fundraising, quality assurance and safeguarding risk assessments of all our activities. We also have to ensure that beneficiaries, staff and volunteers feel confident and able to raise any concerns or complaints appropriately.
