    • 1 day
    • Impact
Does our money make a difference? is a question that trusts, foundations and commissioners ask themselves. This course is for funders, grant makers and commissioners who want to better assess the outcomes and impact of the projects they fund. We will help you think through the type of information you need to collect and why, and methods and approaches for assessing outcomes and impact. We will explore good practice principles in monitoring and evaluation, and how you might support grantees to better evidence the effects of their work and make a bigger difference with your money. This is a discursive and interactive course where you will join other funders to share and extend your knowledge, skills and confidence in outcome and impact assessment.

  6. Developing your theory of change

    • Planning and strategy
A theory of change is your description of how you anticipate change happening over time. As a popular tool for those involved in social change, it can help you plan new work, better understand and communicate what you do (particularly to funders) and support your monitoring and evaluation. Starting from the big change you want to see in the world (the impact), the process maps backwards to articulate and connect the real-world changes (the outcomes) your organisation, project or campaign intends to make with the things you’ll do (the outputs/activities). You will be encouraged to think critically about your work, the plausibility of change, and to tackle the underlying assumptions you’re making as you build your theory of change.
