All voluntary organisations have a duty to keep the people they work with safe from harm. This course introduces the basics of safeguarding within a charity context and highlights effective safeguarding practice. Safeguarding means the range of measures we have in place to protect people in our organisation, or those we come into contact with, from abuse and maltreatment of any kind. This means we have to think about safeguarding in everything we do: including policy and procedure writing, roles and responsibilities, safer recruitment, concerns and complaints management, ethical fundraising, quality assurance and safeguarding risk assessments of all our activities.
Covid-19 has thrown up new questions and challenges for volunteering organisations on how to create a positive and inclusive experience for volunteers. This course will help you address issues that have arisen during the pandemic in relation to: safeguarding, data protection, health and safety, and equality.
