Certificate in Campaigning

  • 7 days
  • Campaigning and lobbying
This popular, ground-breaking campaigning course has been running since 2006. Over that time, the Certificate in Campaigning has become the essential course for campaigners in the UK, helping individuals to deliver change and organisations to achieve their goals. Now we want to help even more campaigners to run powerful campaigns that make a difference. At a time when campaigning is more relevant than ever, there is no better time to hone your skills, ensure your campaigns are effective and be able to clearly report your success.

Who should apply?

We're looking for people:
  • with passion
  • who want to see change in the world and are keen to learn in a dynamic environment
  • who want to network with leading campaigners and springboard their campaigning career.

Whether you're a grassroots campaigner or a senior manager in a charity, one of the best things about this course is being in a room of peers at all different levels from across the sector, facing the same challenges and looking for proven solutions and techniques.

There will be a 'getting to know you' webinar on Thursday 1 October from 12.30 to 14.00

  1. Introducing impact and strategy | 16 October 2020
  2. Developing your strategy and understanding impact | 6 November 2020

Participants must commit to all modules and attend at least six of the seven modules to pass the certificate.

What does the course include?

With seven full days of tuition spread out over five months, you'll be able to talk about your real-life campaigning challenges and apply what you learn in the classroom to your own campaigning.

Though a combination of expert contributors, group workshops, Q&A sessions and networking, you'll learn core campaigning skills ranging from successful e-campaigning to how to develop your campaign strategy, plus a whole lot more.

You'll hear from sector leaders in campaigning about what they've learned, what works and what hasn't, insider tips and plenty of insights you won't pick up just reading books.

Some recent speakers have included movers and shakers from Mencap, Full Fact, British Red Cross, Royal British Legion, ActionAid UK, Brexit Civil Society Alliance, Change.org, RSPB, Request Initiative, Charity Commission, Stonewall, Leonard Cheshire Disability and many many more.

If you are passionate about change and developing your own campaigning, make sure you're part of this critical sector-leading course. But don't just take our word for it...

Speak to everyone and make the most of the expertise in the room (speakers and each other)
Just do it
Do it, it’s a great opportunity to see beyond your immediate policy areas and steal the best ideas from the sector
Ensure you give it a good chunk of time outside of the days
Plan to take your learning back to work from start
Yes do it! It’s best done when you’re 2-3 years into your campaigning career
Go into it open-hearted and open-minded! Challenge the way you are used to working
Go for it
Prepare to think. Prepare to work. Think about the sessions/topics in advance so you can get the most out of each module
It’s great, speak to as many people as possible. There’s lots to learn from everybody.
Do it, and even if you don't currently work in campaigns. It will make you really think differently. Find a way to apply it ASAP.
Do it for the learning, the project work and the networks. Working on the project over several months gave such a good opportunity to apply what we learned.
