ONLINE TRAINING: Good practice in volunteer management

Good practice in volunteer management is key to unlocking the potential of volunteering in your organisation. This online course provides an introduction to the key principles of good practice in volunteer management and how to apply them to your organisation. 
From 2021, this training will take place over two half days (10.00- 13.00) and you need to attend both days of the same course.

2021

January course 
Session 1: Tuesday 19 January (10.00 until 13.00)
Session 2: Thursday 21  January (10.00 until 13.00)

February course 
Session 1:  Tuesday 16 February (10.00 until 13.00)
Session 2:  Wednesday 17 February (10.00 until 13.00) 

March course 
Session 1:  Tuesday 16 March (10.00 until 13.00)
Session 2:  Wednesday 17 March  (10.00 until 13.00) 


OUTCOMES

By the end of the day, you will:
 
  • be able to demonstrate the key principles of good practice in managing, supporting and motivating volunteers
  • understand the key skills and competencies required to manage volunteers
  • gain an overview of the UK wide quality standard, Investing in Volunteers
  • have identified specific ways to motivate and reward volunteers in your organisation
  • have explored how to deal with difficult situations
  • know where to find practical support with volunteer management.
 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This course is aimed at those new to volunteer management and those who manage volunteers, as well as those who need a refresher.

WHO RUNS IT?

Jarina Choudhury is NCVO’s volunteering development consultancy officer. She has hands-on experience of managing volunteers from diverse backgrounds in a pan-London Big Lottery funded programme. She leads NCVO’s volunteer management training programme and delivers consultancy. She has trained voluntary and corporate sector organisations to develop and improve their approach to volunteering.
 

TIMINGS

This training will take place on Zoom and over two half days (10.00 -13.00) and you need to attend both days of the same course. We will send out the Zoom link with the joining instructions before the first session.
